  • Between years 1946 and 1964 there were 77 million people born.
  • In the year 2050 the number of Americans aged 65 and older is projected to be 88.5, more than double the projected population of 40.2 million in 2010.
  • 43% of baby boomers have High Blood Pressure issues.
  • On January 1, 2011 the first baby boomer turned 65.
  • Baby Boomers make up 35% of the American adult population.
  • The age group 55 and over controls more than three-fourths of America's wealth.
  • 24% have a walking disability and need mobility aids.
  • Two-thirds of Americans 50 and over buy from e-retailers online.
  • 52% report a sedentary life style with no physical activity.
  • The biggest year of the boom was 1957, when 4.3 million boomers were born.
  • Americans 55+ are the fastest-growing age group among gym members, up more than 266% since 1987.
